STABILOTHERM Hunter's frying pan Original S1
Stabilotherm's Hunter's frying pans are made in Sweden from carbon steel. The material is well suited for use in campfires as it can withstand high temperatures. The more you use your pan, the better it will cook. The inspiration for our Jägarstek pans goes back a long way and comes from the old Nordic dish of kolbulle. It was cooked in frying pans by rallers, charcoal burners, lumberjacks and other manual laborers who worked long periods without access to fresh ingredients. Our frying pans began to be manufactured in Småland in the 1980s and are today a popular tool for hunters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts.
Before first use
Start by washing the frying pan thoroughly with hot water and a little detergent before first use. Then dry the pan thoroughly so that it is completely dry. Please note that models S1-S4 come with a thin,
protective layer of oil that is washed off in the step above.
Now it's time to sear your new frying pan so it can get its natural non-stick coating. Oil the pan with a thin layer of cooking oil over the entire pan. If your pan has a wooden handle (S3-S4), you should unscrew it before the actual searing so that it does not come into contact with the fire.
Put the pan straight into the fire. Leave it there until the oil starts to smoke and change color. Repeat the procedure 3-5 times.
If the pan starts to dry out, apply another thin layer of oil.
A properly seared pan will be brownish-black, often lighter at the edges. Over time, it will only get darker and more beautiful.
