Fly Lines

Fly fishing lines are a central part of fly fishing equipment and play a decisive role in both casting technique and how the fly is presented in the water. Unlike traditional fishing lines, fly lines are heavier and designed to carry the fly out to the right spot. The right fly line makes it easier to cast farther, more precisely and to adapt the fishing to different waters and conditions.

Guide to fly fishing lines

Compare diameter, breaking strength, elongation and wear resistance. Braided line provides high sensitivity, nylon is flexible and fluorocarbon is often used where abrasion resistance and low visibility are important.

Good to think about before buying

Adapt the line to reel, rod and fishing method. Flush with even tension and regularly check the first few meters for damage.
